Infrared Bulb 131687/98
Powerful 2,000 W infrared emitter for vehicle heating and thermal simulation
The Infrared Bulb 131687/98 is a powerful 2,000 W halogen infrared emitter designed for industrial heating, irradiation and testing applications.
Infrared radiation enables rapid and targeted heat transfer to surfaces, components and complete test objects. Unlike systems that primarily heat the surrounding air, radiant energy is transferred directly to the test object.
BF Engineering uses this technology for the thermal testing of vehicles, trains, aircraft, space components and technical components, among other applications. By combining multiple emitters, large surfaces and complete test objects can be heated under controlled and reproducible conditions.
The 131687/98 operates at a rated power of 2,000 W at 235 V and is suitable for both individual emitter modules and powerful infrared irradiation systems.
The Infrared Bulb 131687/98 is suitable for a wide range of industrial and scientific applications:
- Vehicle heating and thermal vehicle testing
- Thermal testing of vehicle components
- Climate chambers and environmental testing systems
- Heating of trains and rail vehicles
- Thermal testing of aircraft and aerospace components
- Testing of space components
- Material and component testing
- Temperature and load testing
- Research and development applications
- Industrial infrared irradiation
- Customized thermal simulation systems
Infrared radiation enables direct and targeted heat transfer to the test object without having to heat the entire surrounding air.
This allows individual components as well as large surfaces and complete technical systems to be subjected to targeted thermal loads.

Controlled heat input through infrared radiation
In many technical testing applications, components or complete systems must be brought to a specific temperature or subjected to a defined thermal load.
Infrared radiation offers the advantage that energy is transferred directly to the surface of the test object. This allows thermal loads to be generated quickly and concentrated specifically on selected areas.
Typical test objects include:
Vehicles · Vehicle components · Rail vehicles · Aircraft · Space components · Battery systems · Plastics · Composite materials · Technical components
Depending on the application, individual infrared emitters or complete emitter arrays can be used.
Thermal testing from vehicles to space systems
Vehicles and transportation systems are exposed to considerable thermal loads during operation. In addition to ambient temperature, heat input through radiation plays an important role.
BF Engineering uses infrared irradiation systems for the thermal testing of passenger cars, commercial vehicles, trains, as well as aerospace and space applications.
Both complete test objects and individual components can be heated in a targeted manner. This enables reproducible investigations of temperature behavior, material responses and the thermal resistance of technical systems.
The actual thermal load generated on the test object is not determined solely by the electrical power of the infrared emitter.
Key factors include the number of emitters, reflector geometry, distance, arrangement, irradiation angle, control system and properties of the irradiated surface.
BF Engineering develops complete infrared irradiation systems and thermal simulation systems – from individual emitter modules to large-scale systems for complete vehicles and other large test objects.
By combining multiple infrared emitters, powerful and individually configured IR radiation fields can be created for applications in Automotive, Rail, Aerospace, Space, and Research & Development.
