Pt100 Temperature Sensor on a round Cork Base Plate
Black standard for temperature measurement under irradiation
The Pt100 temperature sensor on a round cork base plate is designed as a black standard resistance thermometer. It measures the temperature of its black-coated measuring surface and is suitable for investigating thermal loads caused by irradiation in solar simulation systems, irradiation test stands, and laboratory setups.
The measuring surface is coated with black solar paint and has an absorption coefficient of 0.95. The measuring point is fixed centrally on a copper disc using thermal paste. A round cork plate approximately 50 mm in diameter and 12 mm thick forms the sensor’s base.
The Pt100 sensing element complies with DIN EN 60751, Class B. With a temperature range of −50 °C to +200 °C and a 10 m PTFE-insulated connection cable, the sensor can be integrated into a variety of measurement and test setups.

Measuring thermal loads under irradiation
The temperature of an irradiated surface is not determined solely by the ambient air. Absorbed radiation and heat exchange with the environment also influence its heating. The Pt100 black standard provides a defined black measuring surface for this purpose.
In solar simulation systems and irradiation test stands, it can be used to record the temperature profile at the selected measuring position and to compare test conditions. The absorption coefficient of 0.95 promotes the absorption of incident radiation.

The Pt100 black standard can be integrated into the test setup using a suitable Pt100 data acquisition system. The 10 m cable allows the sensor and the evaluation unit to be positioned separately.
For integration, the pin assignment, plug type, and compatibility of the measurement input must be coordinated. The positioning and mounting of the sensor should also be adapted to the irradiation conditions and the measurement task.
